Shut up or tell the truth: Duterte threatens to submit affidavit vs. ex-USec Say to Ombudsman
President Rodrigo Duterte has threatened to submit to the Office of the Ombudsman the affidavit detailing the alleged corruption of former Labor Undersecretary Dominador Say after he claimed that he resigned over the issue of ending contractualization.
In a speech before motorcycle enthusiasts Saturday (April 21), Duterte said told an unnamed official to “shut up or tell the truth.”
“Kayong napa-sibat sa gobyerno, meron talagang affidavit ‘yan. And here comes the guy saying, ‘ah, hindi kami magka-intindihan sa Endo kasi ganun, ganun.’ ‘Adre, you better shut up or tell the truth immediately,” he said.
“Kasi ‘yung affidavit na pinirmahan sa harap ko, bibitawan ‘yan, ibigay ko sa media. Then I would ask the… to endorse it to the Ombudsman,” Duterte added.
Malacañang earlier said Say would’ve been axed had he not resigned since allegations about his supposed corruption have reached Duterte.
The former Labor official, however, said the basis of the allegations was an unnotarized affidavit “that contains statements that any lawyer would label as pure hearsay and double hearsay.”
