Sige lang! Duterte won’t go after rumormongers of destab plots as long as…
In a departure from his usual warning of imminent destabilization plots, President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday (March 19) said he’s cool to going after those who spread such rumors.
Facing Filipino reporters during his state visit to Myanmar, Duterte said it is anybody’s right to criticize him.
“In the matter of going after them, it has not reached that level of violence, destabilization. It’s more of publicity. And for as long as it is really a peaceful exercise of the freedom of speech and freedom of the press, there’s nothing I can do about it,” he said.
Duterte, however, said it is a different story when violence erupts because of rumors of destabilization.
“Pagka ginulo nila ang bayan, just like what is happening in Mindanao… If it goes out of hand and children are already targeted for killings, ibang istorya na iyan. But as far as just being criticized, I would allow them,” he said.
Malacañang earlier accused Vice President Leni Robredo of being used by those planning to unseat Duterte after she criticized the government’s war on drugs in a video message for a meeting of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs.
