Special request: De Lima seeks furlough to attend son’s graduation from San Beda
Detained Senator Leila de Lima wants to be with her youngest son, Vincent Joshua, when he graduates with a law degree this June.
Because of this, the lawmaker has asked the Muntinlupa City regional trial court (RTC) to grant her furlough on June 3 so she can attend the graduation rites 3 at the San Beda College in Muntinlupa City.
“A family member’s graduation is regarded as a milestone event in every Filipino family,” read her motion.
“To be personally present in such a special occasion is more than a compelling duty on the part of the accused De Lima as a mother,” she added.
The Senator is facing three drug charges before three Muntinlupa City RTC branches.
Under the charges, she is accused of having been involved in the proliferation of the illegal drugs trade at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City
De Lima is currently detained at the Custodial Center of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
