Sweet! Duterte gives roses to Suu Kyi at meeting
President Rodrigo Duterte proved he is really a great charmer after he gave Myanmar’s popular democratic icon, State Chancellor Aung San Suu Kyi, a bouquet of roses during their meeting on Monday afternoon (March 20).
In a Facebook post, Agriculture Sec. Manny Piñol said the President’s visit was capped with a 30-minute meeting with Suu Kyi at about 4 p.m today in the Presidential Palace in Nay Pit Kaw.
It was during that meeting that Duterte presented to the Myanmar icon a bouquet of roses and a modest humanitarian support of $300,000 for the crisis involving the Rohingya minorities in Rakhine Region
The President also invited the State Counsellor to visit the Philippines.
Duterte and his party will fly to Thailand tonight for a two-day official visit.
