Tama na ang ‘Art of sablay’: Grace wants Tugade to get reputable firm to install newly-arrived spare parts of MRT-3
Sen. Grace Poe on Wednesday urged Department of Transportation (DoTr) Secretary Art Tugade to be cautious in his next move following the arrival of the much needed spare parts of Metro Rail Transit line 3 (MRT-3).
Poe said the DoTr should award its maintenance to a reputable company that has the knowledge of and capability in railway operations.
“We believe a comprehensive plan to improve MRT-3 services is necessary to ensure that no more coaches will be detailed and that no lives will be endangered,” she said in a statement.
Reports, quoting the MRT management, said that spare parts from Europe and China have started arriving last Tuesday with the bulk expected to be delivered by Friday.
The MRT-3 is moving closer to full degratdation with only three trains operating as of Wednesday morning.
Poe could only hope that the agony and everyday predicament of long-suffering passengers MRT-3 would end with the arrival of the initial batch of rolling stock and track parts.
“Nagpapasalamat tayo sa DOTr sa pagkakaroon ng puso para sa daanlibong pasahero ng MRT-3, lalo na sa mga may kapansanan, matatanda, buntis at ang mga pasaherong umuuwi sa kani-kanilang mga probinsya sa kagustuhang mapabilis ang kanilang biyahe dahil sa tindi ng trapik sa Metro Manila,” she said.
The DoTr for the umpteenth time declared that it expected an improvement in the services of the MRT within the next few months and reduce the waiting time for passengers on the MRT platforms.
