Tao muna sana bago sarili: Pangilinan disappointed with LP politikos’ vote on death penalty bill

Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan did not hide his displeasure over the position taken by some of his party mates in the Liberal Party (LP), voting for the passage of the death penalty bill, in the House of Representatives recently.

“Well syempre iba ang ating punto de bista at pananaw. Hindi ako sumasang-ayon sa naging desisyon nila pero nasa demokrasya tayo, rerespetuhin natin,” he said in an interview with reporters Monday (Mar. 13).

Pangilinan, LP president admitted that it will somehow leave a dent insofar as party stand on the issue is concerned especially as the party members in the upper chamber, according to Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon, are ready to fight “tooth and nail” to block the bill.

As a result of the recent developments, Pangilinan said the opposition members in the Senate are now working towards the consolidation of their forces.

“So ‘yun ang direksyon na tinatahak ng partido,” he said.
