Tigil na pabebe: Koko thinks Andy should make up his mind if he will quit or not
Enough of the drama.
Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III said Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chair Andres Bautista should not wait until December to quit his post especially with the House decision to impeach him from office.
“Expression of intention (to resign) is not actual resignation. But actual resignation will change a lot of things, not the expression of any plan to resign. Kasi otherwise, (kung ganun), pwedeng i-delay lahat just because promise ka lang ng promise,” he said.
Asked if Bautista should categorically state whether he is already resigned by Dec. 31, Pimentel gave this reply: “Ayoko makialam sa buhay nya.”
The Senate leader will sit as the presiding officer in the impeachment trial after the House majority decided to override a committee’s recommendation junking Bautista’s impeachment.
While Bautista announced that he was resigning effective Dec. 31, it was not clear whether he’s stepping down by the end of the year as his announcement, as noted by Pimentel, or merely planning to resign soon.
