It’s a trap! Duterte says he made up account number checked by Trillanes
President Rodrigo Duterte said he invented the account number of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV’s alleged bank account in Singapore to make him look like a fool.
Duterte made the revelation Tuesday night (September 19) in an interview aired over PTV-4, just hours after Trillanes flew to Singapore to confirm that his supposed account at DBS Bank was non-existent.
He said he just made up the number, 178000296012, he announced in an earlier interview and which Trillanes indicated in one of his waivers.
Duterte said the real number of Trillanes’ bank account was 1178000281602.
“Binasa ko, binawasan ko ng number. Wala ito, imbento lang,” he said of the earlier number he mentioned.
“Produkto ng isip ko ito. Tinanggalan ko talaga. Ginamit mo. Nag-issue ka ng waiver… Iba ang account number, iba ang totoo,” Duterte added.
The President said the number mentioned by broadcaster Erwin Tulfo and Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson when they revealed the existence of Trillanes’ supposed overseas bank accounts was correct.
Given that Duterte just made up the account number he previously mentioned on air, he said Trillanes was obviously “desperate” to fly to Singapore to debunk the allegatiob about his supposed hidden wealth.
“Pumunta ng Singapore, mag-gastos lang para sa propaganda,” he said.
Trillanes failed to get a certification from DBS Bank about his supposed account because he was not a depositor.
