Trillanes asks Fariñas: Are you high on something?
Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Thursday lashed back at House Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte Rep. Rodolfo Farinas for threatening to file perjury and ethics complaints against Magdalo party-list Rep. Gary Alejano over a failed attempt to impeach the President.
“This guy must either have disturbingly twisted morals or very high on something,” Trillanes said in a text message to reporters.
Fariñas, Trillanes said, is threatening Alejano with cases for doing what is right yet he was “vigorously defending the corrupt and murdering ways of his mob boss” — referring to President Rodrigo Duterte.
Trillanes said administration allies have circumvented the impeachment rules by requiring the Magdalo party-list representative to have personal knowledge on the charges being hurled at Duterte.
Farinas was obviously lawyering for Duterte, the senator added.
Alejano, following the junking by the House justice committee of his impeachment complaint against the President, has vowed to bring his case before the International Criminal Court.
Fariñas, however, said he will recommend to House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez the filing of appropriate complaints against Alejano before the ethics committee to stop his propaganda against the President.
Alejano could face perjury and ethics complaints for giving false allegations under oath against the President, Fariñas said.
