Trillanes: Duterte ordered Lascañas to kill me
Retired police officer SPO3 Arthur Lascañas has confessed to being ordered by President Rodrigo Duterte to “eliminate” Senator Antonio Trillanes IV.
In a television interview Tuesday (February 21), Trillanes said Lascañas apologized to him after telling him of the supposed threat to his life.
“Sinabi niya (Lascañas) na Duterte through Sonny Buenaventura wanted to have me killed. Kaso nag alangan nga sya. Sinabi nya nag su-suggest sya ng ibang mode to get rid of me. So humingi sya ng dispensa sa akin,” the senator said.
“Sabi nya baka pwede kung i-ram daw ako ng truck or something to make it look like an accident. Something like that,” he added.
Sonny Buenaventura was Duterte’s security escort and driver from 1988 until 2008. He was often referred to as Davao City’s “little mayor.”
Trillanes said he was no longer surprised to hear that there was a plan to kill him since he has heard of supposed threats to his life, especially after Duterte won in the May 2016 elections.
Less than two weeks before the polls, Trillanes, then a vice presidential candidate, exposed Duterte’s alleged hidden bank accounts running in hundreds of millions of pesos.
“Tuloy-tuloy yung information from different people. Sa akin it’s a given. This guy would want to have me killed but I am not afraid of him. At hahabulin ko talaga sya until mapakulong ko sya kasi ang dami nyang kasalanan sa ating bansa,” he said.
