Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV is accusing Senate President Koko Pimentel of “double standard” to protect President Rodrigo Duterte from more bombshells from self-confessed Davao Death Squad member Edgar Mataobato.
In an interview with DWIZ radio, Trillanes said he was puzzled why Pimentel was afraid of hearing more testimony from Matobato after he declared Matobato’s claim as bogus.
Trillanes recalled that had a different stand when he was the chair of the Senate Blue Ribbon sub-committee which when he allowed former Makati Vice Mayor Ernesto Mercado to drop a load of dirt on former Vice President Jojo Binay’s corruption as Makati Mayor.
“Teka muna kung bogus bakit tyo natatakot? Of all people si Sen koko pimentel should be the last person na magpipigil nito.
As far as he was concerned, Trillanes said Pimentel’s politics was the only consideration in his decision to shun Matobato’s appeal for protective custody in the Senate.
May probklema tayo dun…di ba?” said Trillanes.
Trillanes maintained that if the majority of the Senate wanted to give protection to Matobato, Pimentel has no authority to override this decision.
