Trillanes informs Pimentel about US trip but gives no details
The leadership of the Senate has been duly notified of Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV’s latest trip of the country, Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III on Thursday said.
“Sen. Trillanes informed me of his trip to the US (but) no details of his activities (were given),” Pimentel said.
Often, senators inform the Senate president whenever they go out of the country although the practice or tradition before was that they seek travel authority before they can go out of the country.
Senate insiders said such is no longer being observed as it is deemed to infringe on the lawmakers’ right to travel especially as employees of the upper chamber are also no longer being required to seek travel authority whenever they have trips abroad.
