Trillanes mulls charging Duterte before int’l court
Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Sunday (Mar. 19) admitted of toying with the idea of bringing before an international forum the issues in the impeachment case of the Magdalo party-list group against President Duterte.
“Isa po yan sa possibilities,” he said in a radio interview.
“Pero yung pag file ni (Magdalo party list Rep. Gary) Alejano was because ito yung tamang gawin, ito yung dapat gawin. We will take it from there kung ano ang mangyayari nito kung biglang mag catch fire nga ito at biglang magpalit ng ihip ng hangin eh di magtutuloy tuloy sya. Kung ire- railroad nila after mag resume yung session eh di meron ulit iba pangyayari. We can never tell,” he said.
The senator retaliated at the criticisms that the impeachment complaint is saddled with alleged offenses committed by Duterte as a mayor and not when he’s already the President.
“That’s just their alibi. Panlilinlang nila yun kasi dito sa ating bansa, nobody is above the law,” he said.
Trillanes noted that Duterte’s war on drugs which allegedly involve crimes against humanity which as considered as high crimes and undeclared hidden wealth are among those included in the impeachment complaint.
“Nobody can predict what’s going to happen in the next few weeks, in the next few months. Prove to everybody that you (Duterte0 are right. Kung mali ako dito eh di mag re resign na ako, hindi na nya ako problema. So ito yung pagkakataon, ino obliga lang natin sya na harapin ito,” he said.
