Triple treat! Robredo’s kids end school with flying colors on Jesse’s 60th
Vice President Leni Robredo couldn’t help but gush over her three daughters’ academic achievements that happen to take place around the 60th birthday of her late husband, former Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo.
In an interview Sunday (May 27) in Naga City, Robredo said it was her husband’s dream for their daughters to excel in their studies.
She said the late Secretary and Naga City mayor in particular wanted their eldest, Aika, to take up further studies at Harvard University.
Aika recently graduated with a master’s degree from Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
“Iyong pag-graduate ni Aika parang fulfillment iyon ng matagal niyang pangarap para kay Aika,” the Vice President said of Jesse.
Days after Aika’s graduation in the US, Robredo was back in Naga for second daughter Tricia’s coating ceremony. The event marked her transition to clerkship in medical school.
The Vice President said it has long been her and her husband’s dream to have a child who is a doctor.
“Pangarap namin talagang mag-asawa na magkaroon ng anak na magdu-doktor. Parati naming sinasabi na kapag may doktor kaming anak, ‘Iyan na iyong mag-aalaga sa atin pagtanda natin,’” she said.
Not to be outdone, youngest daughter Jillian is set to finish high school in a few days.
Robredo’s bunso did not only pass the entrance examinations at the University of the Philippines, De La Salle University and Ateneo de Manila University, she also gained a slot at the prestigious New York University.
The Vice President, however, had made it clear that Jillian will only study abroad if she gets a full scholarship.
Reflecting on her daughters’ accomplishments, Robredo said she felt blessed.
“Parang naka-flock pa siya lahat sa birthday ni Jess, tapos 60th birthday niya pa. Kaya sabi ko nga, siguro hindi na ito incident. Kabahagi na ito ng maraming takda ng tadhana sa pamilya namin,” she said.
