US President Donald Trump will not be in the White House correspondents’ dinner.

Trump made the announcement on Twitter on February 16.

He said, “I will not be attending the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner this year. Please wish everyone well and have a great evening!”

A BBC News report published online on February 26 noted that Trump made the statement after certain news organizations were barred from covering a White House press briefing.

According to a New York Times article published online on February 24, the journalists whom White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer barred from his briefing included those from The New York Times, BuzzFeed News, CNN, The Los Angeles Times, Politico, the BBC, and the Huffington Post.
