Tuloy ang laban! Sereno urged to run for senator
There is a brewing online clamor for former Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno to run for senator in next year’s elections.
The online support for Sereno came after the Supreme Court upheld with finality her removal from the top post via a quo warranto petition.
“Now CJ Sereno should carry on her fight for an independent judiciary. She owes that to her country. She needs a platform,” lawmaker Teddy Baguilat Jr. tweeted. “I hope our party drafts her into the Senate resistance slate,” he added.
Former Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda also urged Sereno to seek a senatorial bid following her ouster from the Supreme Court.
“Memo to CJ Sereno: So you were finally ousted. Be of good cheer! You were not diminished, the Supreme Court was! I announced you as CJ in the midst of Jesse’s tragedy but your exit was far more tragic for the rule of law. Your demise is highly exaggerated. Run for the Senate,” he tweeted.
Another netizen @realmickoi commented: “I urge the former CJ Sereno to run for Senate this 2019 election. #TuloyAngLabanParaBayan.”

Hindi ako umasa na mababaliktad ang desisyon ng SC. Pero hindi nabawasan ang paniniwala ko kay CJ Sereno. Maaaring natalo ang bayan ngayon. Pero hindi ito permanente.

I do not have to be Chief Justice to defend the law and the justice institution. I am one with all Filipinos who fight for and live the law. “Each day we resist the abuses of power and call out the abuses of govt, we live the law” — #LabanKoLabanNiCJ

CJ Sereno is still one of the Best Chief Justice that the Supreme Court of the Philippines ever had. It is a great loss to the judiciary and to the entire nation that @SCPh_PIO Justices chose to oust her. #SerenoOuster #IStandWithCJ

Kung si @SenLeiladeLima na pinakulong kahit walang ebidensya, pero patuloy pa rin lumalaban at sa halip na manghina ay lalong lumakas ang pwersa, si CJ Sereno pa kaya na MALAYA?🤔

I'm guessing she'll move to the Legislative Branch, but I'm hoping not for the wrong reasons. I think she'll make a good senator, vindictiveness aside. We need authentic legislators.
