Turncoat politiko shrivels up in front of Mar
Reporters covering Vice President Leni Robredo’s inauguration Thursday (June 30) at the QC Reception House were shocked to see a former Liberal Party (LP) congressmen in attendance.
This politiko, who used to be a key member of the erstwhile ruling party, was among the first to hop aboard the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) following Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s landslide victory in the May 9 polls.
It can be recalled that PDP-Laban was the political faction that carried Duterte in the elections.
Despite his cold-blooded jilting of LP in favor of Duterte’s party, the subject politiko–a Visayan–still had the gall to make himself feel welcome and smile at his former partymates during the event.
Enter Mar Roxas.
Roxas, the LP’s standard-bearer in last month’s elections made good his promise to attend Robredo’s big day. A neophyte Camarines Sur lawmaker, Robredo served as his running mate in the polls.
But when ex-Interior Secretary Roxas arrived and approached the aisle that the turncoat solon was standing on, the latter wiped the smile off his face and shied away. He proceeded to chitchat with others as Roxas gamely shook hands with people.
The LP candidate came in a far second to Duterte in the presidential race.
PDP-Laban has allegedly been “pirating” members of the once-mighty LP in its efforts to form a “supermajority” in Congress.
