VP Robredo lauds citizens over backlash to CHR budget cut at House
Vice President Leni Robredo lauded the response of numerous Filipinos to the vote of the House of Representatives that gave the Commission on Human Rights a mere P1,000 for its 2018 budget.
In an interview in Balangkayan, Eastern Samar on Thursday (September 14), Robredo said strong public objection against this is crucial to keep public officials and institutions accountable.
In an earlier statement, Robredo counted herself among those dismayed by the House’s move, and urged the public to keep a close watch on the proceedings, as the P678-million proposed budget of CHR undergoes deliberations in the Senate. [END]
