Waiting for Bongbong? Duterte wants to quit but doesn’t want Yellows or Reds to take over
President Rodrigo Duterte is ready to step down from his post, but doesn’t want Vice President Leni Robredo to succeed him.
Duterte on Thursday (October 4) bashed Robredo as he maintained that neither the “Yellows”– or people linked to the Liberal Party– nor the Reds could take over the government.
“I do not mean to offend the lady. She’s very good. She’s gentle. Pero mahina talaga si Leni… Hindi mahina ‘yung utak, pumasa ng bar eh. Mahina sa diskarte,” he said before members of the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association.
“So why would I give it to the left? Why would I give it to the yellow? Kayong mga ano dito na mga Reds hindi man — hindi man ako,” Duterte added.
The President, however, said he was ready to resign if the military no longer has confidence in his leadership.
Robredo’s victory has been questioned by former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. before the Presidential Electoral Tribunal. A recount of votes is ongoing.
