Wala daw guts si Dick: Trillanes to lead probe on Paolo Duterte’s alleged smuggling connections

Aug 12, 2017 @ 20:32

Senator Sonny Trillanes has volunteered to investigate the alleged involvement of Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte to smuggling if some senators “do not have the guts” to do so.

Trillanes is taking the initiative after Senator Dick Gordon, chair of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, declared he has no plans to probe reports that Duterte, the first born of President Rodrigo Duterte, was involved in smuggling.

Gordon said he would just “take the President’s word” that he would resign if there was evidence to show that his son was indeed involved in any irregularity.

“Depende kung may dibdib ‘yung chairman, eh, talagang ipupursige niya, di ba? Eh kasi it boils down to the presiding officer,” Trillanes said in a radio interview.

“Ngayon kung di sila kumportable eh di mag-re request ako na mag create tayo ng subcommittee at para tututukan ko ‘yan,” he said in an interview with DWIZ radio.

He added, “Kung wala kang panahon diyan eh ako tututukan ko ‘yan. Kung wala ako ma-po produce (na ebidensiya) eh di ako din ang mapapahiya, di ba?”

Trillanes said he already proposed to Senate President Koko Pimentel to create a subcommittee under the Blue Ribbon if Gordon does not want to conduct the probe.

“Marami tayong p’wedeng ipatawag diyan. Kaso nga, ‘di natin hawak ang sitwasyon,” he said.
