Wala kasing konek sa agri: DSWD in, DBP out of NFA Council
The Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) is no longer a member of the National Food Authority (NFA) Council after President Rodrigo Duterte met with select Cabinet Secretaries and ranking government officials in Malacañang Monday (April 16).
During the meeting, Politiko learned that DBP chairman Alberto Romulo asked Duterte to remove the bank from the council since it is not an agricultural bank.
DBP will be replaced in the NFA Council by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), which is among the biggest users of cheap NFA rice.
While Romulo is no longer part of the council, his daughter, Agriculture Undersecretary Berna Romulo Puyat, will head the Executive Council Committee in charge of overseeing rice importation through the government to private sector scheme.
