Walang ere! Berna Romulo Puyat waited 3 hours for passport rather than drop dad’s name at DFA
Despite growing up in a privileged environment, Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo Puyat didn’t use her parents’ name— particularly her father’s— to get ahead of things.
In an interview published in the Philippine Daily Inquirer Sunday (May 27), Puyat said she had to line up to get a passport even if her father was the the Foreign Affairs Secretary.
“When my dad was DFA secretary, I had to line up for my passport. It took me three hours. The girl said, ‘Name of father?’ I said, ‘Alberto Romulo.’ ‘Occupation?’ ‘Secretary of Foreign Affairs.’ And they were like, ‘Huh?’” she recalled.
Puyat said she took to heart her father’s advice that power is fleeting.
“It’s always good to be grounded,” she said.
