Walang ganoon: LP denies bribe attempt to Kian’s parents
The Liberal Party (LP) on Wednesday said denied allegations by Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II that its members offered money to the parents of Kian Loyd delos Santos.
“The party has not made any contact with Mr. and Mrs. Delos Santos outside of commiserating with them at Kian’s wake and funeral,” they said.
“Kian’s parents, their family have been branded as drug addicts and pushers. They have no capacity to protect themselves. We hope that we find it within ourselves to understand the gravity of their situation,” the LP said.
Aguirre claimed that the Delos Santos’ parents, Saldy and Lorenza were offered P2 million by some LP members to allow them to use the death of their son for political propaganda.
LP members in the Senate are Minority Leader Franklin Drilon, Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto, Senators Leila de Lima, Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan and Bam Aquino.
“This is not the first time that Aguirre lied about LP. We recall numerous instances the secretary himself had to recant and apologize for that fake news he spread about the party and its members,” said LP.
Earlier this year, Aguirre apologized in a Senate hearing for lying that three senators, were planning to offer immunity to some of the personalities involved in the P50 million bribery scandal at the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
He identified Pangilinan, the LP president, and De Lima and Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV who was a non-LP member but part of the minority bloc.
Aguirre apologized to Pangilinan when confronted by the latter in a hearing but not to De Lima and Trillanes.
“For his repeated issuances of erroneous claims, thereby diminishing the stature of his office, we call on Aguirre to resign,” the LP said.
