Walang toss coin: Ping explains advocacy over camaraderie

Jan 9, 2017 @ 19:47

Advocacy stands taller than camaraderie.

On this note, Sen. Panfilo Lacson explained Monday why he exposed pork-like items in the 2017 national budget even if it may mean putting some fellow lawmakers on the spot.

“I’m sorry if I put my colleagues on the spot. My advocacy against pork in whatever form, shape and design stands taller than camaraderie,” Lacson said on his Twitter account.

Earlier, Lacson disclosed P8 billion in pork-like insertions that he had removed from the Department of Public Works and Highways’ 2017 budget had been restored.

Worse, the restored amount came from huge cuts in the calamity fund for 2017, he said.

He added several lawmakers got pork in the 2017 General Appropriations Act, amid Malacanang’s insistence that the budget is pork-free.
