Want Duterte to go out in shame? Find corrupt deals between his children or relatives and officials
He’s old and he doesn’t mind stepping down from office.
President Rodrigo Duterte dared his critics to find a rotten deal between his children or relatives and government officials so they would have the “luxury” of watching go down in shame.
In a speech before businessmen Wednesday, Duterte reiterated his threat to resign after his son, Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, was dragged in the House probe which exposed corruption in the Bureau of Customs.
“Corruption is really one I do not like. Pati ‘yung anak ko ngayon, sinasali diyan sa Customs. I told you before and I’m telling you now again, kung sino sa mga anak ko mainvolve sa corruption, I will immediately resign. That, you have my word. Wala na ako, I’m 72,” said Duterte.
In last Monday’s hearing on the P6.4 billion worth of shabu smuggled into the country from China, Customs broker Mark Taguba claimed that Paolo’s name was being “name-dropped” by individuals – he only knew them as “Tita Nani,” “Jake”, and “Small” – at the BOC who were getting P27,000 bribes from him.
“Sabi ko, kung sino man yung official who entertains with the intervention of any of my sons and daughter that is enough for me. I will fire you and I will press charges against you and my relative wherever he is and you will have the luxury of seeing me go down. Hindi ko na kailangan ang trabahong ito, sa totoo lang,” he said.
