Where are the sacks? Guevarra orders NBI to probe missing smuggled rice
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra has directed the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to look into the disappearance of 23,015 sacks of smuggled rice in Zamboanga City.
“I have directed the NBI to assist the BoC (Bureau of Customs) and the NFA (National in the investigation of the missing 23,015 sacks of confiscated smuggled rice in Zamoboanga City,” he said.
Recently, President Rodrigo Duterte ordered a probe on how the seized smuggled rice became missing.
Meanwhile, Guevarra said he will NBI Director Dante Gierran decide which NBI office will be doing the investigation.
“I will leave to NBI Director Gierran to determine if his agents down south could do a credible investigation, or the anti-smuggling task force at the head office should do it,” he said.
