Yellow no more! Vilma Santos joins hubby Ralph Recto in Nacionalista Party

Batangas Rep. Vilma Santos-Recto on Friday (September 21) formally bolted the once powerful Liberal Party (LP) and decided to follow her husband Senate President Pro-Tempore Ralph Recto in joining the Nacionalista Party (NP).
The Recto couple together with other top officials from the province of Batangas took their oath before Senator Cynthia Villar, national chairperson of NP. The mass oath-taking event was held at the Malarayat Golf and Country Club in Lipa City which is considered the “Forbes Park of Batangas.”
The event also featured the so-called “Sanduguan” between Nacionalista and provincial party “One Batangas.” Among those present in the event were Public Works Sec. Mark Villar, Deputy Speaker Raneo Abu and Batangas Rep. Eileen Ermita Buhain.
Villar said 70 percent Batangas are now under politikos who belonged to Nacionalista and One Batangas.
The Politiko first reported on Thursday evening that the Recto couple was set to join NP, one of the major allies of Duterte administration beside from the ruling party, Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan.
Rumors of the Recto couple and other top Batangueño politikos jumping ship has been circulating the the Batangas provincial capitol in the past two weeks.
Senator Recto started his career with NP in 1992, wherein his grandfather, statesman Claro M. Recto is one of the founders.
