Change may be the buzzword for 2016, but Vice President Leni Robredo hopes it’s the good kind that will prevail in the coming year.
In her New Year’s message, Robredo said a “dark” kind of change (madilim na pagbabago) is happening worldwide due to the desperation and hatred of those left behind in the quest for progress. She said these people’s sentiment is understandable because the government should have listened to them.
Nevertheless, she urged Filipinos to “live simply, appreciate the simple joys, deepen our service to our loved ones, and widen our understanding of the plight of those in the margins.”
“This coming year, may the good kind of change be placed in our hearts, in our daily lives, and in our being Filipinos,” Robredo said.
The Vice President also expressed her wish for all Filipino homes to be “filled with light and peace” so that everyone will remain steadfast in the face of any storm that will pass the country.
“We can see the light even in the darkest night as long as we know how to be thankful in our hearts,” she said.
In light of the coming new year, Robredo urged Filipinos to remain hopeful and “always have faith that in the end, what is good and what is right will prevail.”
