More than 12K individuals pre-emptively evacuated as ‘Karen’ batters PH
As Typhoon Karen pummels the Philippines, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) in its initial update Sunday, October 16, announced that a total of 2,552 families or 12,496 people were pre-emptively evacuated in Regions I, III, CALABARZON and V.
NDRRMC executive director Ricardo Jalad added that in Region 5 alone 1, 817 families or 8,018 families in five provinces were displaced by the typhoon.
Of this, 1,566 families or 7, 380 persons are now inside evacuation centers and another 251 families or 598 individuals are still outside. #
Typhoon “Karen” made landfall in Baler, Aurora around 2: 30 a.m. October 16.
