President Rodrigo Duterte is fed up with the deep-seated corruption in government, including people he endorsed for appointment in th Arroyo and Aquino administrations.
“I am brought to desperation of what I will do with him. Maybe I will just also declare them just like the hunted men sa droga para matapos na ang kalbaryo ng Pilipinas. Ayaw talagang mag-hinto ang mga putangina,” said Duterte in a meeting with business groups in Malacanang Tuesday.
Duterte reiterated his plan to purge bureaucracy of all government appointees just to send a message that he was as serious in slaying corruption as he was determined in wiping out drugs and crime in three to six months.
“Tanggalin ko itong lahat, and even my appointees or those who are there at my behest during the previous administration. I was quite well, in good terms with Arroyo and Aquino. We supported President Aquino during the last elections and one or two or three, pinagbigyan niya ako. But I said, looking at it now, it seems to be no loyalty when it is money that is involved,” said Duterte.
While he was the last person who wanted a family to suffer, Duterte said the corrupt government officials must change their lifestyle to reflect their reduced income.
‘Yan ang problema. Kung hindi ka maka-adjust diyan kasi baka ‘yung sweldo mo eh pang ano lang ‘yan, pang dagdag na lang ‘yan and you have been in graft for so many years and for so many decades, you have to go,” said Duterte who planned to give these erring officials up December to change their ways.
“I will, until maybe Christmas time but not on Christmas day, mahirap naman yan. Masakit ‘yan,” said Duterte.
Aside from naming and shaming, Duterte said he planned to look into bureaucrats who have pending cases filed by the Ombudsman for at least three yearsm
“Tingnan ko lang lahat ‘yung may mga kaso. ‘Yung may mga kaso tapos for one reason or another na-ano na sa Ombudsman, they have been pending for the last three years, there’s no reason at all to hang on to them. Better go,” said Duterte.
“I am a prosecutor for about 10 years doing trial work and I know how it is being played. So, tanggalin talaga natin ‘yan and make sure that… hindi na kailangan eh, report mo lang kay Sonny Dominguez or kay Sir Ben Diokno and kay (Sal) Medialdea.
Eh nasabi mo na kay Bingbong, wag mo nang sabihin ‘yung pangalan mo and I will start the investigation, hindi ‘yan investigation kagaya ng mga korte, ng mga Ombudsman, I’ll just call for you and ask you, I will ask them to report to me,” Duterte added.
