Delos Santos orders Bilibid lockdown

The New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City has been placed on temporary lockdown following the escape of an inmate.
“NBP is on temporary shutdown pending completion of search operations,” said Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director Benjamin Delos Santos after the escape of inmate Manuel Paril Jr. on December 20.
“There’s a possibility escapee Paril is still within the environs,” he said.
Delos Santos said that Paril had been kept at the control gate since December 14 while awaiting a court resolution for his transfer to a prison facility in Gumaca, Quezon.
It is believed that Paril escaped by breaking open an access door located at the second floor of the administration building.
