Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III on Saturday encouraged jobseekers who will troop to the Trabaho, Negosyo, at Kabuhayan (TNK) Caravan slated on March 3 and 4 at the River Banks Center in Marikina City to attend the learning sessions on the opening day of the event.
“I advise the participants to attend our learning sessions on the first day of the caravan before going to the job fairs on the second day.
These lectures will equip them with information on the job market as well tips on how to start their own business, if they are inclined on opening one,” Bello said.
Jobseekers and graduating students are encouraged to attend the learning sessions on employment coaching, employee rights and benefits, tips on how to start and grow a business, and how to avail assistance from the government.
In the session on employment coaching entitled, Kasanayan sa Paghahanap ng Trabaho, a representative from the Bureau of Local Employment (BLE) will discuss the opportunities in the country’s key employment generating and emerging industries, the skills required by employers, and the government interventions on job matching.
In the session on employee rights and benefits entitled, Kagalingan at Karapatan ng Manggagawa, representatives from the Bureau of Labor Relations (BLR) and Bureau of Working Conditions (BWC) will give a lecture on the specific provisions in the Labor Code, such as employee classification, rights at work, welfare, health and safety, and statutory benefits in relation to wage employment.
For attendees who are interested in entrepreneurship, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will also hold a lecture on how to start and grow a business.
The training will provide understanding on who is an entrepreneur; what are the competencies to become successful in business; the rewards and trials in going into business; the benefits of saving money for business; and current business trends and situations.
The basic knowledge on business planning, the importance and steps of business registrations, as well as programs and services of the government for aspiring and existing entrepreneurs shall also be discussed.
Lastly, a session on the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP), to be discussed by a representative from the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC), will discuss the Department’s package of assistance for those who want to start a business, those who have existing business, and those whose business was damaged or destroyed due to calamities.
The two-day activity, which will be piloted in Marikina City, will launch the Trabaho, Negosyo, at Kabuhayan initiative of the DOLE and DTI at the grassroots level. It aims to offer employment opportunities and promote entrepreneurship in the localities.
