Opposition forces, assemble.
Senatorial aspirant Neri Colmenares has warned against the tandem of former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio in next year’s elections.
Colmenares, in a statement, said the opposition must now be united to combat the “unholiest alliance” of the two politikos. He said Marcos and Duterte are expected to continue the “dark legacies” of their fathers.
Mayor Sara, daughter of President Duterte, decided to run for vice president despite pleas from supporters to seek the presidency. She will be the running mate of Marcos Jr., son and namesake of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos.

“The battle lines are now clear. With Sara Duterte’s filing of candidacy for vice president and her adoption by the Partido Federal as Bongbong Marcos’ running mate in 2022, the merger of the forces of tyranny, dynasty and corruption is complete,” Colmenares said on Facebook.
“The son of a former dictator and daughter of a wanabee dictator are now poised to continue the dark legacies of their fathers. This can only bode ill for the vast majority of Filipinos, many of whom suffered under the corrupt and brutal regimes of their fathers,” he said.
He said Marcoses have now become the “primary power brokers” in the country since Duterte is considered “a lameduck president” and his daughter relegated to a supporting role.
“In any case, both candidates have massive resources, including government resources, at their disposal,” he said.
With the team-up of Marcos and Duterte, he said the need for fo a united opposition never been more important.
“The task of the opposition is to unite and work with all democratic and freedom-loving Filipinos in defeating this unholiest alliance of dynasts and budding tyrants,” he said.
“Naniniwala akong mahalaga pa rin sa ating mamamayan ang kalayaan, demokrasya at mabuting pamamahala at hindi na sila papayag na ito’y mayurakan pa,” he said.
