Nakita ng China! Lacson plants PH flag on Pag-asa Island

Amid the tension in the West Philippine Sea, Senator Panfilo Lacson planted the Philippine flag in Pag-asa (Thitu) Island in Palawan Saturday (November 20) to assert the country’s sovereignty.

Lacson tweeted that Chinese Coast Guard ships were only three nautical miles away when he planted the flag in the second largest island in the Spratlys and the administrative center of the Kalayaan municipality.

“Today, I planted our country’s flag with our patriotic soldiers in Pag asa Island, municipality of Kalayaan in the West Philippines Sea in front of the Chinese Coast Guard ships more than 3 nautical miles away,” he said.

Lacson’s visit to Pag-asa Island came at the heels of an incident involving the Chinese Coast Guard vessels blocking and firing a water cannon on two Filipino boats going to Ayungin Shoal to replenish supplies of troops stationed there.

The presidential aspirant consulted with residents and fishermen to hear their concerns about China’s increasing aggression in the West Philippine Sea. He also met with members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Western Command (WesCom).

Joining Lacson on his visit to Pag-asa Island was recently retired Philippine National Police chief General Guillermo Eleazar, who’s running for senator.
