Award-winning actress Susan Roces has passed away on Friday, according to her family. The film icon, mother of Senator Grace Poe, was 80.
The death of beloved actress triggered an outpouring of grief and tribute from several politikos. Among those grieving the loss are Senators Francis Escudero, Bong Revilla, Sherwin Gatchalian, JV Ejercito, Robin Padilla and Loren Legarda, Batangas Rep. Vilma Santos Recto, and former Interior and Local Government Secretary Raffy Alunan.

Ejercito tweeted: “Rest in Peace Ninang Susan Roces.”
Rep. Santos-Recto also mourned the death of fellow actress Roces. “Rest In Peace, ate Susan.
Maraming salamat!We will miss you. We love you.,” she wrote on Facebook.
“Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’unPanalangin sa Pinakamamahal na Reyna ng pelikulang Pilipino,” Padilla said in a Facebook post.
Revilla also shared a heartfelt tribute to Roces via Facebook.
“Nagluluksa ang buong industriya ng pelikulang Pilipino sa pagpanaw ng Queen of Philippine Movies, Susan Roces. Higit sa kanyang mahusay na pagganap at hindi malilimutang papel sa pinilakang tabing at sa telebisyon, higit na tumatak sa lahat ng mga nakakakilala at nagmamahal sa kanya ang kanyang mabuting puso. Labis ang aming pangungulila sa pagkawala ng isang haligi at yaman ng pelikulang Pilipino.Ninang Susan, you may be gone but you will forever be in our hearts. Rest In Peace in the loving arms of our Lord. ” he said.

Alunan wrote on Facebook: “Condolences to Sen. Grace Poe and their family for the loss of her mother, movie icon Susan Roces.”
Senator Poe earlier confirmed the passing of her mother on Friday, saying “she lived life fully and gracefully.”
“Remember her in her beauty, warmth and kindess. She is now with the Lord and her beloved Ronnie — FPJ. We will miss her sorely but we celebrate a life well lived. Susan Roces — daughter, mother, grandmother, a true Filipina and a national treasure,” she said in a statement posted on social media.
Roces, who began her career in the early 1950s, starred in numerous hit films and television programs, earning various awards and recognition. She was married to the late king of Philippine movies Fernando Poe Jr. who passed away in 2004.
