Action man Raffy Tulfo takes oath as senator

Veteran broadcaster Raffy Tulfo is ready to work as a new member of the Senate.

Tulfo, who ranked second in the May senatorial elections, took his oath as new senator before Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Marvic Leonen. The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Supreme Court building in Manila.

Tulfo earlier quit two programs on TV5, including the popular public service program “Idol in Action” to run for senator.

The independent senatorial bet, known as “ang idol, takbuhan ng masa,” picked up more than 23.3 million votes during the recent elections. He has promised to protect and promote the welfare and rights of the poor and the oppressed during his six-year stint at the Senate.
