Incoming Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) chairperson Cheloy Garafil vowed to follow the guidance given to her by President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
“I will always be guided by the directive of our President-elect, Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. to always uphold the interest of our riding public and our public transport workers,” said Garafil in a social media post after Marcos’ camp announced her nomination.
Garafil, a former journalist and a lawyer, said that she was “deeply honored and humbled to have been given this opportunity to head an agency that is very important and crucial especially at this time when the country is reeling from the impact of the pandemic and the steep prices of petroleum products.”
“We will work doubly hard to mitigate the impact of oil price hikes on the lives of our commuting public, public utility operators and drivers and other stakeholders,” Garafil added.
Garafil is currently a Service Director at the Committee on Rules of the House of Representatives. She was a former prosecutor for the Department of Justice (DOJ) and State Solicitor for the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG).
