Religious leader and SMNI big boss Apollo Quiboloy hit back at a broadcaster over alleged rude behavior after the latter quit and walked out of a live television program.
Quiboloy accused broadcaster Mike Abe of disrespecting him and embarrassing him on television when the SMNI host countered his opinion about President Marcos’ State of the Nation Address (SONA) last Wednesday.
Quiboloy, leader of Kingdom of Jesus Christ, also serves honorary chair of SMNI network.
“Ako ang una niyang pinahiya sa TV,” Quiboloy said during his program last Tuesday posted on Facebook and YouTube.
“Pinahiya mo ako sa TV, sa aking mga comments na opinyon ko. Sinalungat mo at isa kang correspondent ng SMNI, eh talagang sasagutin kita publicly. Hindi kita babastusin, sasagutin lang kita,” he added.
Last Wednesday, Abe quit and walked out of his own television program “Usapang Bayan” after apparently disagreeing with Quiboloy’s comments about Marcos’ first SONA.
The religious leader, in the phone interview with Abe, earlier expressed dismay that issues such as crime, insurgency, and corruption were left out in the President’s public address. Abe however reportedly countered that all President have their own style, and the leader could not tackle all issues in one SONA.
But Quiboloy claimed that Abe was wrong to comment that people should not completely rely on the President. He said the country’s leader has powers to effect change as well as has full responsibility over the nation’ welfare.
In his television program Tuesday, Quiboloy expressed dismay with Abe’s behavior, saying he should have treated him with respect as owner of SMNI network.
“Public dialogue ito. Natalo ka sa debate, binastos mo ako. Sariling istasyon ko babastusin mo ako, broadcaster ka lang kahit 15 years ka pa diyan. Binagsakan mo ko ng microphone sa sarili kong istasyon,” he said.
“Magkaka-programa ka ba diyan kung hindi kita pinayagan,” he said.
Quiboloy added that while Abe wanted people to respect his opinion, the broadcaster must also respect other people’s differing views.
“Nagpoprograma lang siya sa stasyon ko. Kailangan igalang niya unang-una ako at opinyon ko. Kung mayroon siyang opinyon na sarili niya, eh huwag niya salungatin ang chairman niya,” he said.
“Nag-walk out ka, bastos ‘yun. Kasalanan mo ‘yun,” he added.
Quiboloy also vowed not to tolerate any unfair or inaccurate commentary by SMNI broadcasters.
‘Kapag napansin ko hindi na kayo objective, eh talagang nandiyan ako. Hindi ninyo pwedeng gamitin ang SMNI para sa sariling opinion na hindi na objective. Hindi pwede sa SMNI ‘yun,” he said.
