Presidential son and Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos called out a ranking official of Liberal Party (LP) on Twitter Saturday (November 26) for spreading fake news about him.
LP secretary general and former Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat shared on his Twitter account a social media quote card quoting Marcos as asking why there was a big fuss about the prices of red onions when consumers can alternatively use white onions.
Reacting to the quote card, Baguilat tweeted: “In short, ang gusto nila sabihin, mag tiis kayo. Pag ganyan ang problem-solving skills ng leaders natin, kawawa tayo. Sana solusyonan kung bakit nahihirapan ang farmers kya nagmahal ang sibuyas.”
Marcos, however, said the quote card shared by Baguilat was fake. “Disinformation pa more [peace sign emoji] [grimacing face emoji],” he replied to the former lawmaker’s tweet.

Immediately after Marcos’ reply, Baguilat deleted the tweet.
Netizens chided the LP official for spreading fake news and demanded that he apologize to Marcos.
“They’ll post disinformation, once they were called out… delete na lang? We all believe Teddy needs to issue public apology for spreading disinformation to his audience and to Cong. Sandro Namimihasa na ang mga salot ng lipunan sa pag peddle ng fake news,” @modernjuana said.
“Akala ko ba matapang bat nagbubura ng tweet? Twitter warrior lang pala hahahaa,” @vinbu tweeted. “Ano ka ngayon,
@TeddyBaguilatJr? Magpa-private o mamba-block ka na rin?” @wredt_Tderw said.
“You should sue @TeddyBaguilatJr,” @benign0 advised Marcos.
“@TeddyBaguilatJr is a disgusting person. He campaigns against fake news but someone who fall for it just the same. But a “helpful fake news” that agrees to his political narrative is the truth for him,” @ulbertalanodle tweeted.
