President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday urged Filipinos to emulate Andres Bonifacio’s loyalty and love of country as he led the commemoration of the hero’s 159th birth anniversary.
Those modern-day heroes have demonstrated that every Filipino has the ability to do good for others and society, the President said, noting that it is one of Bonifacio’s legacies to Filipinos that everyone can be a hero in their own way.
And, as the country faces modern-day challenges, Marcos Jr. believes that Bonifacio, other Filipino heroes, and the country’s modern heroes can serve as inspiration for the nation to achieve its goals.
“Sama-sama nating harapin ang mga hamon ng panahon ngayon nang may pagmamahal sa bayan, determinasyon, tapang, [at] karangalan upang maitaguyod natin ang isang Pilipinas na tunay na nais natin ipagmalaki,” he also said.
The Chief Executive urged Filipinos to continue honoring Bonifacio and other heroes who gave their lives in the fight for the country’s freedom and independence.
As the beneficiaries of their legacy, it is every Filipino’s responsibility to ensure that what they fought for is preserved by ensuring the country’s peace, freedom, and prosperity, according to him.
Remembering Bonifacio and other Filipino heroes is important in developing national consciousness based on our country’s history, which will guide the country toward a better future, added Marcos Jr.
