Kadiwa stores to continue operations this year

The Kadiwa outlets will continue operating throughout 2003, according to an official of the Department of Agriculture (DA).

During Wednesday’s briefing of the House Committee on Agriculture and Food, Marikina City Rep. Stella Quimbo asked about the status of the Kadiwa program amid claims that its operation will be stopped due to the expiration of some memorandum of agreements.

DA Chief Administrative Officer Junibert de Sagun said the operation of Kadiwa stores will continue.

“Yung mga ongoing regular Kadiwas po ay still ongoing pa rin po naman siya, wala naman po tayong pinapatigil. Subject to schedule po yung Kadiwa natin,” De Sagun said.

De Sagun explained that the DA is not buying the goods being sold in Kadiwa outlets and the agency merely serves as marketing linkage.

“So in short mukhang mayroon naman kayong sapat na budget para sa taong 2023 para mapagpatuloy ang Kadiwa?” Quimbo said.

De Sagun replied, “Yes po your honor kasi minimal subsidy lang naman po ang ginagawa… Physically, marketing linkages lang yung ating ginagawa.”

Kadiwa outlets sell goods at prices lower compared to other markets.
