President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday led two groundbreaking ceremonies for the construction of more than 20,000 housing units for Camarines Sur residents as part of the government’s Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program.
“Isa po ito sa mga proyekto ng aking administrasyon na nakaangkla sa ating layunin na mabigyan ng komportable, maayos, at disenteng buhay ang lahat ng ating kababayan,” Marcos Jr. said during the groundbreaking for the construction of housing units on Panganiban Drive in Naga City.
“Ang pagkakaroon ng sariling bahay ay pangarap ng lahat ng Pilipino na nais magkaroon ng isang lugar kung saan sila makakapagsimula ng bagong kabanata ng kanilang buhay,” according to him.
This is the first housing project under the 4PH program undertaken by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) in partnership with a provincial government.
The Project aims to build five residential towers with 11,880 housing units on a 6-hectare land on Panganiban Drive. Four commercial buildings surrounding the residential towers will also be built.
The President said the administration’s goal is to build 1 million houses each year under his six-year term to provide the people with decent housing and address the country’s 6 million housing backlog.
“Lahat ito nais natin paabutin ng anim na milyon na bagong pabahay dahil ‘pag pinag-aaralan natin ang housing sa Pilipinas, ‘yan ang numerong lumalabas na kulang na pabahay para sa ating mga kababayan,” he also said.
Aside from housing, residents would have access to basic and vital facilities such as schools, markets, medical facilities, and livelihood infrastructure.
Marcos Jr. also urged various government agencies, construction firms, private financial institutions, and other partners to follow government rules and regulations when carrying out projects.
As of March 13, 2023, the DHSUD has signed 83 memoranda of understanding (MOU) and four memoranda of agreement with local government units (LGUs) nationwide.
Under the MOU, the DHSUD and the government financial institutions will collaborate on funding strategies and allocation of financial, technical and operational resources.
