As we celebrate International Women’s Month, we are reminded of the immense contributions women have made in making the world a better place. While we still have much ground to cover in reaching gender equality, we pay homage to these amazing women, the trailblazers who paved the way for the present.
Today, we also look to brave and awe-inspiring women making strides in their respective fields, and Kathryna Yu-Pimentel is certainly one of them.
While many know Kathryna as the wife of Senate Minority Leader Koko Pimentel, she is much more than that. She is a woman of many talents, compassion, and courage, excelling in both business and social work.
Kathryna serves as the president of PDP Cares Foundation, spearheading various initiatives to help people in need.
Under her leadership, the group expanded its assistance to the communities affected by the terror siege in Marawi back in 2017. When the pandemic hit in 2020 and lockdowns were enforced, she worked hard to provide tablets to students to help with their online classes.
Kathryna with fellow Senate spouses Tootsy Angara and Audrey Zubiri mark Valentine’s Day by giving love, food and gifts to the elderly in Malolos Bulacan (Facebook: Kathryna Yu Pimentel)But that’s not all. Kathryna is also a competent entrepreneur.
She co-owns Tiong Bahru Philippines, which she and her partners brought from Singapore to give Filipinos the opportunity to taste world-class cuisine. Tiong Bahru is a multi-Michelin Bib Gourmand awardee, receiving such honor from 2017 to 2022.
She is also the owner of Alpina Lounge & Wellness, a haven for beauty and wellness services for women. She also runs AquiLeyna’s Kitchen, an online bakery business with her children, specifically Akio, which sells baked goods.
While she does not seek the limelight, Kathryna’s achievements speak volumes about her character and determination to make a difference. In a world that sometimes seems chaotic and divisive, Kathryna stands as an inspiring example for women.
