The UniTeam presidential tandem is still intact.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has publicly declared his support for Vice President Sara Duterte, who recently quit the ruling Lakas-CMD party, amid the latest political conflict.
Marcos designated himself as Duterte’s “official BFF (best friends forever),” assuring that he remains her biggest fan.
“And the reason I made her laugh because I told her dito sa mga gulong nangyayari, I’ve just officially designated myself as your self-appointed official BFF,” Marcos said during the launch of a new pier in Liloan, Cebu.
“Sorry na lang, sa ayaw at gusto mo, I’m still your number one fan,” he added.
The declaration of support was made by the President in the presence of politikos, including House Speaker Martin Romualdez, cousin of the President and president of the Lakas party.
Duterte recently quit the administration party, refusing to let her public service be “poisoned by political toxicity” or “undermined by political power play.”
Her departure comes after her ally, former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Arroyo, was unceremoniously booted out as Senior Deputy Speaker amid alleged ouster plot against Romualdez. The former leader has been relegated as one of the House Deputy Speakers. Arroyo later denied any involvement in an attempt to overthrow Romualdez.
Duterte later wrote a cryptic message on Instagram, taking a swipe at an ambitious individual without naming anyone. She called out the person to stop a “tambaloslos,” a demon-like mythical creature.
