Senator Robin Padilla is putting his Senate work first.
Padilla has decided to resign from a senior post from the PDP-Laban party to focus on his job as a senator, but will stay a loyal member of the Duterte-led group.
Gayunpaman, akin pong ipinahahayag ang aking hangarin na manatili bilang miyembro ng Partido,” he said in a statement.
Padilla believed that the political party needs an executive vice president who can devote ample time to its affairs.
He recognized his responsibilities as a duly-elected senator, adding that someone else would be better suited to fulfill his former role.
In August 2022, Padilla was elected second highest official of the PDP-Laban party. He replaced Karlo Nograles, who resigned after being appointed as the chairman of the Civil Service Commission (CSC).
Padilla, a popular film actor, topped the Senate race last year with over 26 million votes.
