There seems to be no love lost for former Vice President Leni Robredo and her allies after their disappointing showing in the 2022 polls, with a survey by the Social Weather Station (SWS) showing them with a small chance of winning the midterm senatorial race.
Results of the commissioned survey conducted from April 15-18, 2023 showed Robredo ranked between 13th and 31st place, with an estimated 818,000 voters including her in their list of senatorial choices.
SWS’ survey was unaided, which meant respondents weren’t given a list of prospective senatorial candidates on which to base their sources.
Tied with Robredo outside the so called “Magic 12” rank of bets who could possibly win the senatorial race are her running mate, former senator Francis Pangilinan, abogado Chel Diokno, former senators Antonio Trillanes IV, Bam Aquino, Mar Roxas, Richard Gordon and Franklin Drilon.
Also ranked 13th to 31st are former Vice President Jejomar Binay, former Manila mayor Isko Moreno, former presidential spokesman Harry Roque, Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto, abogado Larry Gadon, physician Willie Ong, game show host Willie Revillame, former senator Gringo Honasan, former Quezon City mayor Herbert Bautista, Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro and Senator Francis Tolentino.
Former senator Manny Pacquiao, who ran in the 2022 presidential race, topped the survey, followed by Senator Bong Revilla and former senator Tito Sotto.
Other prospective bets with a high chance of winning based on the survey are: Senators Ronald Dela Rosa, Imee Marcos, Bong Go and Pia Cayetano; former President Rodrigo Duterte, ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo, and former senators Panfilo Lacson and Manny Villar.
