The PDP-Laban gave its “unambiguous endorsement” for the expulsion of Arnolfo Teves Jr. as a member of the 19th Congress.
“In our unyielding dedication to the pillars of democracy, the PDP-Laban demands absolute integrity, steadfast commitment, and unblemished accountability from every elected representative under its banner,” the statement released by the office of Surigao del Sur Rep. Johnny Pimentel read.
The PDP-Laban said the residents of the third district of Negros Oriental “have been unjustly deprived by Rep. Teves’s lack of diligence.”
“The case of Rep. Arnolfo ‘Arnie’ Teves, Jr. is not merely a matter of concern, but a clarion call for action. A representative’s primary duty is to ardently advocate for their constituents, a commitment from which Rep. Teves has egregiously deviated, evident from his sustained absences and efforts to seek asylum elsewhere,” the statement read.
The party also said the designation of Teves as a terrorist is “an affront to the sanctity and honor of our institution.
“Such verified accusations tarnish our collective reputation, triggering profound ramifications both nationally and internationally,” the party said.
“The PDP-Laban stands unwaveringly with the collective judgment of the political party leaders on this critical issue. We vehemently advocate for preserving the integrity, trustworthiness, and respect of the House of Representatives,” PDP said.
“With firm resolve, we express our unambiguous endorsement for the expulsion of Rep. Arnolfo ‘Arnie’ Teves, Jr. Our allegiance to the core tenets of democracy and the well-being of the Filipino people remains unshaken,” it stressed.
