The Garcia political clan welcomed two close political allies in their home province of Cebu over the weekend.
Vice President Sara Duterte and First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos traveled to Cebu to join the celebration of the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo hosted by Carcar City. The two guests were seen enjoying the festival alongside Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and daughter Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco.
The tourism chief seized the chance to capture the precious moment, snapping a selfie with the three ladies during the Cebu festival. The snapshot, shared on Frasco’s social media accounts, radiated #LovethePhilippines and #LoveCebu energy.
“Malipayong Pasigarbo sa Sugbo!❤️❤️” Frasco wrote on Instagram.
According to Frasco, the latest festival that featured street dancing, grand ritual showdown, among others, aimed “to show the love that we have for Cebu, for the Philippines.”
“Through our festivals that commemorate our culture as Cebuanos, we celebrate our faith in Sto. Niño and our respective patron saints, and herald the identity of each and every one of our local government units,” she said in a Facebook post.
“All of you, our mayors, our officials, our dancers, choreographers, our costume makers, and everyone involved in turning the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo a reality, you give pride to Cebu. You give pride to the Philippines,” she added.
Marcos and Duterte meantime were also among the politikos who attended the inauguration of the new Tourist Rest Area (TRA) in Carcar City, a landmark project by the Department of Tourism.
