Liza Marcos cites exceptional roles of women in society

Will First Lady Liza Marcos run for senator?

September 12, 2023

Political analyst Ronald Llamas weighed in on the swirling rumors about First Lady Liza Marcos being urged to run for a Senate seat in the upcoming elections.

Appearing on “PolitiSkoop” program hosted by Michael Fajatin and Ina Andolong, Llamas said while anything is possible in the country, the First Lady has so far not shown interest in joining the Senate race.

Llamas also touched upon the crowded field of Senate hopefuls, mentioning that popular broadcaster and now ACT-CIS party-list Erwin Tulfo and Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos are rumored to be considering a run.

On the rumored interest of the House Speaker’s wife to run in the next elections, Llamas said this talk remains at the “level of Marites.”

Wala pa tayong nakikitang body language,” he said.

Llamas also warned that diving into a crowded field could risk wasting political capital.

“Halimbawa, First Lady ka tapos tatakbo ka sa senador na napakasikip, kung sakaling matalo ka baka maging sampal sa presidente yun,” he pointed out.
