It’s about connections.
First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos is taking up the cudgels for her husband President Marcos amid the backlash about their recent Formula 1 adventure in Singapore.
Taking to Instagram, Marcos explained that the F1 race was all about networking with some of the world’s key government and business leaders.
“Formula 1 is a global sport that provides opportunities for networking with a diverse range of people — including political figures, celebrities, and business leaders 💪🏼,” she said in an Instagram post on Monday, Sept. 18.
The First Lady wrapped up her Instagram post by giving a shout-out to Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz who won the Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday.
“Bravo Ferrari!! 👏👏👏” the First Lady commented.
The First Lady joined her husband in watching the Singapore qualifying race at the Marina Bay circuit on Saturday. The First Couple was spotted having a chat with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Hong during the race.
The President had said his discussions with Lee and Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong were “promising.” Marcos was in Singapore since Sept. 13 for the 10th Asia Conference. He returned to Manila on Sunday.
“Our countries can expect enhanced collaboration on multiple fronts to address common global challenges,” the President said in a Facebook post.
“Later in the evening, we watched Ferrari clinch the podium at the F1 Grand Prix!” he added.
On Sunday, the Ferrari driver produced a masterclass to win the Singapore Grand Prix. McLaren’s Lando Norris secured the second place with Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton coming in third.
Sainz started on pole and led from start to finish, marking his second win in F1.
